This is a listing of plants that we will have in the spring.  Not all items are kept in stock throughout the summer and fall, so please call before coming to inquire  about availability.  Phone # 618-483-5798.

'Abiqua Drinking Gourd'.
Deeply cupped, thick-substanced, blue-green foliage. Grows 24" high by 46" wide. No other Hosta boasts such deeply cupped leaves. White medium bell shaped flowers in June to July. Worth growing as a specimen and conversation piece.


'Alex Summers'.
This majestic upright hosta with its upright form commands attention. Choice sport of Hosta 'Gold Regal' displays beautiful dark green leaves edged with a bright golden margin. It's vase shaped growth habit is very desirable. A premium selection that grows up to 30" tall and up to 60" wide.

 
‘All That Jazz’.
Large heart-shaped
leaves with a clean, creamy-yellow margin. I forms a majestic clump with a stately, spreading form suitable for under-planting with ground covers. Pale lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. Grows up to 29” high by 52” wide with leaves 12.5” long by 11” wide.


‘American Halo’.
Large blue leaves circled with a wonderful wide creamy-white margin. White flowers open in early summer. A premium Hosta with superior form and beauty This large mounding Hosta can grow to 27” high and up to 74” wide. The leaves are heavily corru­gated and of thick substance.


‘Atlantis’.
This exceptional sport of ‘Abba Daba Do’ features long, dark green ruffled leaves with a dramatic golden yellow margin Thick substance can grow 20” high by 48” wide with leaves 11” long by 8” wide. Pale lavender flowers in July.


'August Moon'
(specimen). 20" high by 45" wide. Medium to bright gold color, gold color intensifies in brighter light. Mid-season lavender flowers with better than average leaf substance Award winner.


'Band of Gold'.
Broad green leaves are edged with a wide gold margin that changes to creamy-white later in the season. Pure white flowers open early. This introduction from Michigan hybridizer Ed Elslager is a seedling of the famous 'Dorothy Benedict' and H. hypoleuca. Large hosta to 22".


'Blue Angel'
(background). 22"-30". Deep blue foliage, heavy texture, dense cluster of white flowers.


‘Blue Hawaii’.
This upright vase-shaped blue variety displays wonderful blue corrugated leaves with the classic heart-shape leaf. White flowers top the clump in early summer.


'Blue Mammoth'.
Makes a huge mound of slug-resistant, deep blue foliage. The leaves are 15" long by 11" wide of deep blue-green color; broadly oval shape; heavily corrugated with thick sub­stance. Near-white flowers open on scapes up to 32" high from mid-June into July. Mature mound size is 30" high by 70" wide.


‘Blue Mouse Ears’. 2008 Hosta of the Year.
A mini hosta, but one you can not but fall in love with. Small round gray-green leaves are com­prised of a substance so thick you have to feel it to believe it. Lavender flowers on short scapes pro­portionate to the clump top it in midsummer. A must have hosta for the collector and rock garden enthusiast.


'Blue Umbrellas'
(Specimen). 30" high by 72" wide. A huge mound of umbrella-like leaves A good grower for a large hosta with a superb distinctive appearance. Pale lavender flowers on 30" high scapes from late June to mid-July. Takes shade to three-quarter sun.


'Bob Beane'.
Characterized by its large blue-green, heavily substanced leaves circled by a ruffled border. The streaky 1/2" - 1" creamy-yellow edge turns lighter in mid-summer. Beautiful pure white flowers open above the heart-shaped leaves in late July - early August. A medium to large grower.


'Bright Lights'.
Probably the best variegated tokudama type Hosta available. Has thick, puck­ered heart-shaped gold leaves with a streaky blue margin. Grabs the eye like a magnet. Has white bell-shaped flowers in mid-summer.

'Captain Kirk'.
Wider dark green leaves with heavier substance distinguish this sport of 'Gold Standard' from its parent. The golden leaf center contrasts nicely with the darker margin. Pale lav­ender flowers top the fast growing clump in mid­summer. A medium size Hosta.

‘Brother Stefan’. A moderate grower, boasts large, heavily corrugated gold leaves with a wide dark green margin. Near white flowers top the thick leaves in early summer. A spectacular Hosta!

'Cathedral Windows’. The domed, heart shaped leaves of ‘Cathedral Windows’ glow from a golden-yellow interior. The wide, dark green leaf margin is significantly wider than the parent plant, ‘Stained Glass’. Large fragrant near-white flowers in late summer. Bright fil­tered light draws out the best coloration on this vigorous grower. Forms a medium sized mound of foliage.

'Climax'. Thick corrugated dark green leaves are edged by a bright gold border. Has a wonderful upright habit. Lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. A choice selection. Large grower.


'Dance With Me'.
Each yellow heart-shaped leaf is framed with a dark green margin. The heavy textured leaves are topped by pale lavender flowers in late summer. A medium to large Hosta.


'Deep Blue Sea'.
An outstanding Blue! It is unique with its very round corrugated blue leaves. Near white flowers in mid-summer. A small to medium Hosta.


‘Dick Ward’.
The bright gold leaves of this sport of ‘Zounds’ are margined by a dark green edge. Mature leaves exhibit heavy corruga­tion and puckering. Does not develop foliage burn. Pale lavender flowers in early summer. Grows 21” tall and up to 56” wide. A mature clump is truly spectacular.


'Earth Angel'. 
Hosta of the Year 2009.  From the beloved classic 'Blue Angel' comes 'Earth Angel', a wonderfully varie­gated form. Large heart-shaped blue-green leaves have a wide creamy-white border. Pale lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. A show stopper when used as a specimen. Large grower.


‘Faith’.
Develops rounded, brassy-gold leaves with fantastic corrugation. Near-white flowers top the vigorous clump in early summer. Morning sun to lightly filtered shade results in the brightest leaf coloration. Matures as an ex­ceptionally beautiful mound.


'Fantabulous'. 
The sparkling deep green leaves of 'Fantabulous' are edged with a broad creamy-white margin. The slightly rippled leaf margin gives the impression the foliage is flowing from the center of the plant. An attention grabber. Lavender flowers top the clump in mid-summer. Medium grower.


'Fire And Ice'.
This spectacular sport of 'Patriot' has pure white centers and very dark green margins (reverse of Patriot). The leaves are heavy with substance. Lavender flowers are produced on white flower stems. A flashy Hosta that contrasts nicely with 'Patriot'.



‘First Frost’.  2010 Hosta of the Year.

In the garden, it has interest all season long. In spring, its blue-green and yellow combination is quite striking. In midsummer the blue-green turns to dark green and the yellow to white, remaining so till frost. Lavender flowers top the clump in late summer. Grows into a mound 14” high by 36” wide; leaves 7” long by 5” wide.


'Fragrant Bouquet'
(groundcover). 1998 HOSTA OF THE YEAR. 22" high by 48" wide. An exciting plant combining brightly variegated foliage and large fragrant, pale lavender flowers on 30" scapes from mid-August into early Sep­tember. Can be used in the landscape in many ways and has a fast growth rate.


'Guacomole'
(specimen).  Hosta of the Year 2002.   Probably the most exciting Hosta to hit the landscape in years! Developed by Bob Solberg of North Carolina it has proven to be outstanding. The leaves are 10" long by 8" wide with gold-centered, green-mar­gined color. The colors intensify with more light and during the growing season. Fragrant, pale lavender flowers are produced on 38" scapes throughout August. It has a fast growth rate and will mature about 24" high and 54" wide. 'Guaca­mole' is a deli delight!


'Hadspen Blue'.
(ground cover). 12" high by 15" wide from England. Leaves with good form and substance. Pest-resistant. Many lavender flow­ers provide graceful contrast to blue foliage in late summer. Shade to three-quarter sun.


'Halycon'
(groundcover). 16". Deep blue-green leaves forming a dense mound. Good slug-resis­tance. Tall stems of pale lavender flowers.


‘Hanky Panky’.
A natural sport of ‘Striptease’. Emerges in the spring with dark green leaves edged with a pale lime edge. An ivory halo separates the center from the margin. As the summer progresses, the center brightens to a creamy-yellow color as the ‘Strip tease­ pattern’ changes to a dark green and the margin then becomes near white. Lavender flowers top the vigorous clump in midsummer.


‘High Society’.
This striking Hosta is a sport of the beloved ‘June’. ‘High Society’ emerges in the spring with a warm yellow center which brightens to white by midsummer. The leaves are edged by a wide blue margin. Pale lavender flowers open just above the mound of foliage in late summer.


‘Ice Prancer’.
Features very thick wedge shaped frosty blue leaves with beautiful ripples along the margin and an exaggerated leaf tip. With its slug resistant foliage, architectural beauty and grace, it is a welcome addition to even the most discerning Hosta collector. Light lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer.  

‘Journey’s End’.
This sport from ‘Choo Choo Train’ produces large heart-shaped leaves with a gently ruffled edge. The yellow-gold leaves display several shades of green where the wide dark green margin bleeds into the gold center. Pale lavender flowers open above the foliage in midsummer. Filtered shade or morning light draws the richest colors from the plant. A multiple award winner, this selection gets better with time.


'June.' 
2001 HOSTA OF THE YEAR
Gold-centered sport of 'Halcyon'. 12" high by 30" wide.  
Pointed leaves, 6" long by 4" wide, have attractive gold center with a blue-green margin. Heavy su stance. Very distinctive. Demonstrates good slug resistance. Light to violet flowers late July on 16" 20" scapes. Medium to slow growing.


‘Komodo Dragon’. 
Matures as a large vase-shaped mound (up to seven feet) of heart shaped grey-green leaves that are 15” long b 11” wide. Pale lavender flowers open in earl summer. A good rarity for the back of the borde or specimen use.


'Krossa Regal'
(specimen). 30"-36". Blue green leaves form a vase-shaped clump. Stems o mid-season lavender flowers reach up to 5". Goo slug-resistance. Premium!


'Liberty'.
  Hosta of the Year 2012.   Sport of the beloved H. "Sagae'.'Lib erty' features a wider, more dramatic border, espe cially noticeable on younger plants. The leaves ar thicker. The margin fades to creamy-white later i the season. Lavender flowers.

‘Little Sunspot’. This sensational Host is the latest in the series of mutations from the classic golden miniature ‘Little Aurora;. Feature a dramatic wide green margin and a brilliant gold center. Perfect for the front of the shaded perennial border. Light lavender flowers in early sum mer.


'Love Pat'
(specimen). 21" high by 50" wide Deep blue-green color. Heavily corrugated, thick substance leaves 9" long by 8" wide. Mid-season white flowers. 1988 Midwest Blue Award. One of the best puckered Blues with good slug resistance.


'Mississippi Delta'.
Features large blue-gray leaves displayed horizontally. The deeply impressed veins terminate at the leaf base, reminding the breeder of the delta of the great river. The magnificent clump can reach 5' and is topped by scapes of white flowers that branch on mature clumps. Im
pressive!


‘Miss Tokyo’.
A very large and majestic Hosta of large dark green leaves that are edge with a wide creamy-white margin. Pale lavender flowers open in early summer. A stunning Hosta.


'Montana'
'Aureo Marginata' (background) 42" high by 48" wide. One of the most admirable Hostas. Glossy green base, wide, irregular yellow margins; huge leaves 12" wide, 14" long. Lots o pale-lavender flowers in early summer. Shade t three-quarter sun.


'Mount Tom'.
Intense blue leaves are margined by a wide creamy-white margin. Pale lavender flowers. Very classy! Medium to large grower.


'Night Before Christmas'.
  25" high by 63 wide.  One of the "breakthrough" plants in the world of Hosta. A 'White Christmas' mutation with heavier substance and much wider margin. The center o the leaf is a creamy-white changing to pure whit by summer. Dark green margins on large pointed leaves 12" long by 7" wide. Pale lavender flower open from mid July into August on scapes up to 36 high. Medium to fast growing.


'Old Glory'.
Rapidly growing sport of H. 'Glory displays golden heart shaped leaves edged with a uneven dark green edge. A lighter shade of green appears where the green and gold overlap. Prominent veins and a rippled edge to the leaves round out the attributes. Lavender flowers appear in mid-summer. Spectacular! Forms 16" mound up to 42" wide with leaves 9" long by 8" wide.


'Olive Bairley Langdon'.
  An improved 'Frances Williams' and recommended as a re­placement because it has more of a glaucus bloom (powder coating) on the leaf and displays its variegation color later in the season protecting it from the burning that sometimes happens with 'Frances Williams'. Beautiful margined with gold. Near white flowers in June-July.


'On Stage'. 
Outstanding Hosta featuring bright yellow leaf centers with dark green-margined; colors intensify during the growing season. Laven­der flowers on 30" scapes. Medium to fast growth rate.


'Orange Marmalsade'
(specimen) Out­standing sport of 'Paul's Glory'. Should become one of the most popular cultivars in the near future. Grows 20" high by 45" wide. Leaves are 7" by 5" wide; 1/2 inch wide blue-green margin; center bright gold as it emerges from soil in spring, becoming lighter during the season. Pale lavender flowers on 3' scapes from mid-July into early August. Medium growth.


‘Paradigm’. 2007 Hosta of the Year.
This super sport of ‘Abiqua Recluse’ has beauti­ful gold leaves edged with a blue-green margin. The variegation pattern intensifies later in the spring. Lavender flowers bloom in summer. A medium large grower to 23” high by 48” wide. Slug-resistant foliage. Very impressive.


'Patriot'
(specimen). 18" high by 24" wide. "Hosta of the Year for 1997". A natural sport of 'Francee' has the same deep green leaves but is blessed with a much wider variegation on the edge of the leaf. Mid-season lavender flowers. Very popular!


'Paul's Glory'
(specimen). 1999 HOSTA OF THE YEAR. A sensational specimen plant popu­lar for its vivid foliage colors, good substance, and attractive mound habit. Grows 25" high by 55" wide. Pale lavender flowers on 35" scapes from mid-July to early August.


‘Regal Splendor’.
2003 Hosta of the Year. A sport of ‘Krossa Regal’ with creamy-white leaf margins on frosty blue leaves. This plant has an unique vase-shaped form. Orchid flowers in mid­summer on tall scapes. A large grower to 30” high by 72” wide.


'Rosedale Golden Goose'
(specimen). A large, bright gold Hosta that has outstanding sun-tolerance. Grows 26" high by 57" wide. Leaves 12" long by 9" wide, good substance. Medium growth rate.


'Sagae'.  2000 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year
. 30" high by 70" wide. Leaves are 13" long by 11" wide; gold margins change to creamy white by mid-summer. Margins stay gold in deeper shade. Dark green center to the leaf with a smooth texture and good substance. Good slug resistance. Lavender flowers open on scapes up to 4' high from mid July into August. Not a fast grower.


‘Shazaam’.
A small to medium size Hosta that features dark green wedge-shaped leaves
with a dramatic creamy-white margin. Lighter gray-green areas appear in the leaf where the uneven wide margin overlaps the green center.Lavender flowers top the upright mounding clump in early summer. A Knockout!


'So Sweet'.
(specimen). 22" high by 50" wide. "Hosta of the Year for 1996". Glossy green leaves emerge with a gold edge then slowly turn to white. Constantly putting up new leaves. Mid-season fragrant white flowers. Shade to three-quarter sun. May be the best combination of variegated foliage and fragrant flowers. Fast growth.


'Stained Glass'.
  Hosta of the Year 2006.  A new introduction sport of 'Gucamole'. Exhibiting the same rapid growth rate and mounding form, 'Stained Glass' differs by displaying its variegation earlier in the spring and maintaining a much brighter, brilliant gold throughout the season. Prominent veins through­out the leaf gives it a 'stained glass' window effect. Large fragrant near-white flowers per­fume the garden in August.


'Stiletto'.
A distinctive small Hosta with long, narrow, wavy leaves with thin white margins. A stoloniferous growth habit lends itself well to use in borders as well as edging. An ornamental plus are the funnel shaped purple striped flowers in late summer. Grows 12" high by 30" wide. Fast growth rate.


'Striptease'.
   Hosta of the Year 2005.  Between a rich, velvety green border and a chartreuse gold center, are the most unique "etchings" of pure white. Fragrant violet flowers in summer on 26" scapes. Foliage grows 24" tall by 30" wide. Likes to show off!


'Sum and Substance'
(background).  Hosta of the Year 2004.  30" high by 80" wide. Huge, glossy, tough textured gold leaves 18" long by 14" wide. Color is better with more light. Shade to three-quarter sun. Award winner; slug-resistant. Mid-season light lavender flowers.


'Sun Power'
(background). 26" high by 62" wide. Leaves 12" long by 7" wide. Bright gold color, especially with more light although color holds well in the shade. Mid-season light orchid flowers. Grows in shade to three-quarter sun. One of the best Gold Hostas.


'Sunshine Glory'.
This older Kevin Vaughn hybrid has never really achieved the recognition it is due. Fabulous large green leaves are wonder­fully corrugated and edged with a wide gold margin. Near white flowers top the clumps in early summer. Well suited for the middle to back of the Hosta border. Choice!!


‘Sweet Innocence’.
Has heart-shaped apple-green leaves with a wider leaf margin. It is the tetraploid form of ‘Fragrant Bouquet’. On mature plants, the leaves are dome-shaped rather than flat like ‘Fragrant Bouquet’. Large fragrant near-white flowers perfume the late summer air. A specimen Hosta for bright, filtered sun.


‘Tattoo’ .
Rounded leaves with char­treuse centers outlined in a narrow-bluegreen border, set in an apple green background. Lav­ender flowers in early July. Grows 11” high by 23” wide, dense mound. 5” long by 4” wide leaf size. Leaf blade is very broadly ovate-shaped, slightly wavy and faintly corrugated. Very popu­lar but needs good drainage for its best perfor­mance. Plant in a slightly raised bed and modify the soil with coarse sand or perlite.


'Thunderbolt'.
The very thick, rubbery-blue leaves have a gold flash down the center of each leaf which turns creamy-white later in the season Near-white flowers top the clump in early summer Truly a conversation piece to show case. A me­dium to large grower.


‘Touch of Class’.
A medium size sharp new Hosta, the tetroploid form of ‘June’, emerges in the spring with intense blue leaves with a gold flame in the leaf center. A green pattern occurs where the gold and blue overlap. The leaves have an incredible thick substance and held more up­right than ‘June’. Lavender flowers top the clump in mid -summer.


'Twist Of Lime'.
A wonderful sport of 'Lemon Lime'. Yellow leaves are bordered by a dark green narrow margin. Vigorous growth rate and small habit lend it to many uses in shady landscapes Lavender flowers in mid-summer. Grows 12" high by up to 36" wide. A top edging plant and makes a great, low ground cover.


'Whirlwind'.
  A standout in any Hosta collec­tion for its variegation and wavy, unruly mound habit. The leaf center undergoes continual color changes, being white with greenish tints early slowly becoming pale green, then darker green The shiny, dark green margin offers a nice contras to the center even when it is pale green. Has a fas growth rate and makes a nice specimen, but also effective as a ground cover. Grows 19" high and up to 40" wide. Leaves are 8" long by 6" wide Lavender flowers in mid-summer. Very distinctive and attractive!
