Here at Alwerdt's, this plant has great use for dry, shaded areas. It generally grows to a height between 2 and 3 feet tall with 8-12 inch spread. A very tough plant, insects and diseases will leave it alone! Prefers part to full shade. Beautiful green leaves with a margin of white on arching stems that produce small, bell-shaped, fragrant, white flowers in spring. In autumn, blue-black berries appear and the foliage turns a golden yellow. It looks fantastic in the woodland garden or naturalized setting, especially when paired with other shade plants such as ferns, heucheras, and astilbes.
